The Journey

Let your mind start a journey through a strange new world. Leave all thoughts of the world you knew before. Let your soul take you where you long to be. Close your eyes, let your spirit start to sour, and you’ll live as you’ve never lived before.” -Erich Fromm

I began this journey for a few reasons. My life is changing, going somewhere. Ever since I was young, I’ve known that I’m going to change the world, and I can say that with so much confidence, I don’t think it’s nieve. Why should it be? Ever since we’re little kids, we hear adults say “follow your dreams” or “reach for the stars.” But by the time we get older, we stop reaching. Why? Because we forget to dream. We forget what it’s like to look up into the sky, wish on stars, and imagine. So many dreams become goals. I hate that word. What’s the difference you might ask? The destination. That’s where the stars go black. When you grow up you start to look for a means to an end. One final thing that will make your dreams come true. Well I can promise you, as long as you do that, you’re going to find yourself so distanced from what you actually dream, you’ll lose sight of it. Dreams are about the journey, not the destination. That’s because there is no destination, not really. Once you start asking for an end to your dreams, that’s when you’ll get it. Dreams never die, not really anyway. They live as long as we do, it’s just all about seeing them and always remembering that the star you wished on when you were little will still be there when when you grow up. You just have to make sure you never lose sight of it.

So this, is my journey. I never really know where it will take me, but I know it will take me somewhere. Life always does. So if you want, follow me down my path, wherever that may be. Maybe ours will cross one day, you and I. Maybe it won’t. All I know is that a head full of dreams and a pocket full of change can take you anywhere.
